We're currently accepting applications for Peer Mentors for USU 1010 University Connections! As a Peer Mentor, you'll assist instructors in fostering the student community within the Connections class (USU 1010) and provide support to faculty as needed throughout the semester. The Connections class is a key part of helping new students succeed in becoming a successful learner and completing their university education. Peer Mentors create and maintain a connection with students throughout their first semester.
Peer mentors play an important role in helping Connections students know HOW to engage with their peers and feel confident in reaching out to build relationships. They help incoming student find their own sense of connection with their peers and their place in the Aggie Family. Peer mentors focus on building relationships with their students, and helping their instructor create an environment of trust. It is important to have an affirming and open environment so students are willing to have conversations about what they are experiencing in their transition to college. This helps instructors and peer mentors better identify student needs and interests, and guide students toward resources and opportunities that are a good fit.
Students can learn more information and how to apply on the Peer Mentor Hiring website. The job posting is currently available on Aggie Handshake and close March 28 at 11pm.
